I don’t know how I got so lucky. My grand is seriously my pride & joy. Can’t believe our Palm Desert getaway is already next week! Looking forward to steak, golf, Morongo, and exploring because I’ve never been there before.
On the other hand, I’ve been going out every single day since finals week so today I decided I need some Me time. Sometimes the best vacation for me is just staying at home. So today I’m going to clean Stumpie (my car) and my room. And after the Palm Desert getaway, I’m going to go on a mini lockdown and really start applying for jobs. My goal’s to apply to AT LEAST 5 jobs every summer day. And I’ll keep telling myself not to expect any of them to get back to me. I’ll give it three months and then I’ll start panicking and start applying to like 20 jobs a day. But for now, I think I’ll be fine.
OH! Yesterday I went to the Rock Harbor church in Placentia, I guess because I’m starting to miss God. He spoke to me in a dream a couple of days ago.. which was pretty random and weird. I think it’s been like two years since I last went to church. It was much needed. I think I might want to go back next week. It was my first time going to that church and I actually liked the speaker. I tend to analyze speeches as a communication studies major so sometimes that gets in the way of me appreciating a sermon. Honestly, cheesy sermons irritate me. But ultimately I go to church for the praising and praying. Sometimes I wonder how easy it would’ve been if my family were Christian, but that’s another topic. I’m going to start cleaning now!
Yup, sounds about right.
This is my current read thanks to Sandy. I started a little more than an hour ago and now I feel like cancelling all my plans today so I can finish it.
Decorating my graduation cap at Cindy’s. This has been the second summer slumber at Hotel CChow. I forgot how much I miss her and I’m only saying this because she doesn’t have a tumblr. Well, today is going to be a cray day. I have one hour before I have to get up. Hmm.. I’ll do my nails =) Future Helen is going to hate me.
Chernobyl Diaries looks intriguing. Watching it this Sunday!

Last night Tim pushed me in Cleofav’s pool with my clothes on. That person! He’s lucky I usually don’t have my phone on me. But I’m glad he threw me in because then I wouldn’t have had this picture with Ronald.
I played Swat for my first time. Ended up literally having to drink a whole can of beer because that’s how much I sucked the first time. But that’s okay, I stayed classy and AWAKE. Yeee I guess it’s possible for me! Y’know last night I found out I actually took like 5 or 6 shots within an hour the night before. No wonder I was so dunzo on Friday. I’m not much of a drinker. Smirnoff alone used to get me buzzed. But yay for not being as pathetic as I used to be! After Cleofav’s in Rowland Heights, I decided to visit Thing 2 in El Monte.. got lost in Pasadena. I might as well have gone hiking in Eaton Canyon. Anyways, Thing 2 and I ate at JJ Hong Kong Cafe. I got home at 6AM.. that’s been the typical time these summer days.
Haven’t done a food picture in a while!
Summer has been super fun so far. This upcoming week’s jumbo-packed with even more fun. And then after that I’ll get to be lazy. Yay =)
Throwback: Bread & Butter in 2009
Can’t wait for our reunion! The G’s of ARC were pretty much my first set of college friends so I’m entirely grateful to have met them.
For funsies. I miss drawing people!
I am OFFICIALLY DONE WITH COLLEGE. It’s starting to feel like summer especially when I woke up today. I know because I’m still here on my bed in the late afternoon bumming around and not wanting to do anything. I didn’t think Helen the Hermit would kick in so fast. This is probably the last summer vacation I’ll ever have for the rest of my life before my career starts so I’m going to try not to be too lazy. What I’m looking forward to:
+ Tonight will be my third night in a row of drinking. My goal is to NOT fall asleep
+ More epic nights (Grad Mansion Party, Beach House/Lakehouse, etc.)
+ A couple summer internships/jobs have been interesting me.. we’ll see if I land one
+ True Blood, season 5!! June 10th, you excite me
+ Learning at least 5 new piano pieces.. been a while!
+ Oregon cousins
+ Seeing people I didn’t get to see so much this semester
+ Finally getting to read Hunger Games when I have jury duty
+ Summer poker tournaments
+ Morongo w/ Grand
+ Central America still a maybe!
A trailer Ezra made for funsies from my theatre Devising class. I was a tree in the first clip. Very essential to the scene =]
Every year my family dedicates Mother’s Day to my grandmother. I have a huge family so this was a rather simple family gathering. Both my grandparents have 8 children so I have 16 aunts and uncles, and most of them are married with at least two kids so I have more than 32 immediate cousins. Majority of my dad’s side resides in Vietnam so I’m closer to Mama’s side. I rarely talk about my family so yep, there they are. I’ve changed diapers of all the younger ones in the video. I think I like them better when they didn’t know how to talk.. because THIS. Two of my older cousins are also in the video. They host the house casino every Chinese New Year so they’re fun but sometimes they’re too cool for me so I’d have to say my favorite cousins are the ones in Oregon who come to visit every summer.. which means I’ll be seeing them soon!! The last time they visited, we made a time capsule full of letters so we’ll get to read them when they visit in July. YAYY!
I recently received a letter that I wrote to myself a year ago. The president of my organization at the time had us all write a letter during a general meeting and had it mailed to us a year later. It was weird and interesting to read. Helen at 20 sounded so hopeful and ambitious.. I’m kind of envious. Helen at 21 turned out so dark and morbid. I want to write a letter to Helen at 22. Ugh that’s only 3 years from a quarter-life crisis. Actually I heard it was like $30 to have something shipped to you a year later so maybe not. I’d rather get steak. Anyways here’s my letter since I’m sure Helen at whatever age will thank me for this.

Hi Helen! It’s you from a year ago! So Mike Toliver just read a letter he wrote to himself a year ago and read it on the last GBM. And now I’m writing a letter so you can remember everything that’s happened and everything that I hope to happen next year. So first, the things that have happened:
I performed my first theatre showcase for 316 rehearsal and performance. I played an 80-year-old and like, a 10-year-old. It was AMAZING. The only thing I truly regret is not performing before. People have been telling me to audition but unfortunately I don’t think I have the time for it. I’m really sad about that. But hey, can’t do it all, right? Sacrifices!
I’m elected as the new president for ARC! Ahh! So far I have a good feeling about the new Eboard. I can tell it will be crazy though. I hope I can create the free environment during both Eboard and general meetings. I hope I can leave behind a strong foundation and a legacy. I’m kind of nervous. I hope I can keep consistent members. I hope Eboard never loses their motivation. I hope we can discuss and debate in a healthy manner.
I was public relations this semester for APO. I just met up with Anh Duong yesterday. Had a good talk with her. I wonder how successful Deal Give will go. I also wonder if Rho Gamma will win the SLD recognition award for our campaign… I’ll find out on Friday. It’s okay if we don’t, I’m still proud of my application.
I was elected Service VP for next year. Ahhhh I’m EXTREMELY worried. I wonder how working with Thuy will go. Gonna be SOOOO stressful. I hope I at least will have a good committee. Hope I can maybe create a service song. Make service fun.
Ahh I have to stop writing soon.
HELEN YOU’RE GRADUATING!!!
How do you feel?? Are you going to grad school for sure? Maybe in Australia? It’s expensive though, we’ll see. I’m excited for your future. Hope you’ve learned A LOT! Whatever happens, you’ll be fine.
Oo… boyfriend? Probably not. It’s okay. You’re still young.
Oh hey, you’re 21! Party bus? Poker at Vegas? Piano bar? How exciting.
Okay I have to go now. Whatever happens next year, I hope I can be proud of you!! Don’t cry!!
<3 Helen
BTW. Here’s $20! (:
Hmmmm… =)
So summer is looking pretty appealing
And life after graduation is starting to look promising
Maybe Brett Waterfield was wrong in NOLA. Maybe there is a light at the end of my tunnel.
Emotions, why must you get involved. You are so stoops..
This is unfortunately familiar
I’ve been here before
It’s just all part of the process.
Feeling something > feeling nothing, and I’m grateful
So thanks, it’s been fun <3
But on to the next.
Oh man, graduation is soon. Time to find out what else is out there.
